Description
Basket/ Twined Tinglet. Polychrome Hupa basket from California. The body of the basket is tan with designs around the midsection in white, dark reddish-brown, yellow, and bright orange. The design is three bands stretching around the circumference of the basket. The top and bottom bands are bordered in white and consist of dark brown lines in a geometric pattern, making L-shapes. The middle band is designed with three yellow parallelograms stacked diagonally from the bottom white border to the top white border, parallel to three bright orange parallelograms stacked in the same fashion. The basket is very tightly woven with a small coiled rim. Donated by Nathalie R. Peffers, July 4th, 1969.
