Exhibit Panel reads, "Hinsdale County Courtroom Scene 1883. The excited jurors and audience were anxious to convict Packer of the murder of his fellow prospectors. Statewide newspapers portrayed Packer as a crazed man eater and coined the phrase, the Colorado Cannibal, which made the trial's outcome very predictable. Packer was convicted of murder and sentenced to be hanged on May, 19, 1883."
