Born in Pennsylvania on September 5, 1871. She moved with her family to Iowa, Kansas, Gunnison CO, and to Grand Junction just three weeks before the railroad was completed in 1881. Her family homesteaded on Purdy Mesa (named after her father) and she married Frank G. Mars on April 22, 1894. They had four children, including one who passed in infancy. Her surviving children were Charles Mars, Bert Mars, and Goldie (Mars) Smith. She passed away at age 60 on September 25, 1931 from serious injuries from an automobile accident the week before.
