Smith, Melba was influential and spearheaded the music industry in Grand Junction. She started the Community Concert Series in the 1940s.She lived in Election Precinct 29, Mesa, Colorado, United States in 1940.
She married Marquis Rightmire Schmidt on August 3, 1932 and have two children, Mark Ronald Schmidt [1938 - 2017] and Ralph Normand Schmidt [1941 - 2008].
She died on 17 March 2003, in Grand Junction, Mesa, Colorado, United States, at the age of 95, and was buried in Orchard Mesa, Mesa, Colorado, United States.
