He Taught At Mesa College For Ten Years And Attained The Rank Of Associate Professor Before Resigning In February Of 1979 To Focus More Seriously On His Career As An Artist. Sanders Has Resided In The Western Colorado Area Since The Late 1960's. His Interest In Painting And Printmaking Developed Early During The Time In Which He Lived And Recieved His Education In The Pacific Northwest. The Grandeur Of The Colorado-utah Landscape, Its People, And Its Historical Events Gave Sanders Much Inspiration For His Paintings. A Large Portion Of Sander's Art Focuses Upon Western Themes Inclusive Of, But Not Limited To, Landscapes With Indians, Cowboys And Ranchers. His Work Has Been Described As Both Realistic And Surrealistic In Form -- While Positively Enhancing The Subject Matter He Intends To Depict. His Work Reflects The Manner In Which "he Sees The World" And Is Not Inclusive Of The "heroric" Characteristics Which Are Normally Associated With Western Art.
