Mrs. F. Eleanor (Day) Penberthy was born March 11, 1915, to Mr. and Mrs. Harold V. Day, in Delta, Colorado. The family moved to Grand Junction in 1925, where Eleanor attended Grand Junction High School. She went on to attend Mesa College and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Denver University. She married her husband in Grand Junction in 1937. Her husband was the owner of the Excelsior Laundry and Dry Cleaners. She served her community as executive staff for the Girl and Boy Scouts. She was a member of Chapter DY, PEO, and Camaraderie Club, was president of Mesa County Women's Republican Club, was vice chairman of the Mesa County Republican central committee, was finance chairman and member of the state nominating committee of the Colorado Women's Republican Club. She passed away at Colorado General Hospital in Denver, Colorado, in 1961 after a very brief illness.
