Charles Elden Norine, known as Elden, was born December 3, 1913, in Provo, Utah, to parents Charles and Daisy Norine. Two sisters, Ruth and Carolyn, were born in 1915 and 1918 in Utah. In the 1920 census, the family was living in Clifton, Colorado. Norine attended Fruitvale High School and was a musician in his youth, often performing for school and the Methodist Episcopal Church. In the 1930 census, Norine was living in Fruitvale, Grand Junction, Colorado. He attended the Grand Junction Junior College in 1932. He married Ruby Winefred Coulter in Grand Junction in 1935. At the time of his marriage, he and his father were employed at the Boulder dam. The family was living in Nevada in 1940, Barstow, CA, in 1943, Albuquerque, NM, in 1948, Tuolumne, California, in 1987, and San Andreas, California, at the time of his death in 1996.
