Dr. Guy Edwin Jones was born February 19, 1893, in Leigh, Nebraska, to parents James and Anna Jones. In 1905, the Jones family moved to Montrose, Colorado, where he graduated from high school. He attended the University of Colorado before graduating from the University of Denver with his dental degree in 1917. Immediately after graduation, he established his dental practice in Grand Junction, CO. He served briefly in WWI. In 1920, he married Mary Elizabeth Kittleman in Colorado Springs, CO, and they moved to Grand Junction, CO, where they had two children in 1921 and 1924. She passed away in 1933. In 1935, Dr. Jones married Jessie Craig in Boise, Idaho, and she moved with him to Grand Junction. Dr. Jones practiced dentistry from an office in the U.S. Bank building in Grand Junction for 52 years. Dr. Jones was a member of the Dental Society which encouraged the city council to fluoridate the water system, making Grand Junction the first community in the state of Colorado to do so. He retired in 1969. In later years, he served as president of the Western Colorado and Colorado Dental associations. For five years he was a member of the Colorado Board of Dental Examiners. He was a member of the dental staff at St. Mary's Hospital and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Additionally, he was active in the Masonic organization, was a charter member of the Shrine Club, a charter member of the Rotary Club, helped organize the American Legion Post and the Last Squad Club, and was eminent commander of the Knights Templar. He was also a member of the Presbyterian Church. He died in 1981 in Grand Junction, CO.
