Born in Bridges Switch, in Mesa County, Colorado. This was a small community between Clifton and Palisade, off the old highway overpass.In 1946, married Dorothy Mildred "DeeDee" Clark.
Was a photographer for the Daily Sentinel from 1941 to the mid-1980s. Initially, he worked as an engraver at the Sentinel.
From 1943-1945, he served as a photographer for the US Army, working with cartographers in India, China, and Australia.
