Giffin was born October 28, 1879, in Lee's Summit, Missouri. He taught school in Plateau Valley before moving to Grand Junction, CO, in 1907. He married Martha Gigax in Paoli, Kansas, in 1909. Giffin worked as a mail carrier for the Grand Junction business district, retiring after 34 years in 1949. He was a member of the Christian Church and Letter Carriers Association. He passed away in Greeley, Colorado, in 1963.
