Harold B. Fleming was born July 15, 1913, in Grand Junction, CO. He attended Palisade and Clifton schools, and graduated from Grand Junction High School and Colorado State University. While at Grand Junction High School, he was yell leader and participated in the class play. He married Dorothy Patten of Clifton, CO. They lived in Grand Junction until 1940. He worked as an engineer for the Jones-Laughlin steel plant near Aliquippa, PA.
