Born in New Brunswick, Canada. He partnered with D. S. Dickie, forming Dickie & Currie. He had built some of the well-known structures in Grand Junction including the early building from the Teller Institute and the Raso Building in 1902. He was secretary-director and a large stockholder in the Mesa County Building & Loan Association. Currie was active in the Masons, served on the city council while Wendell Ela was mayor, and testified in major disputes over obtaining a good water system. He was a father to Arthur Currie. He had died while in New York and had two services, one of them was performed by Rev. Dr. Johnson. He is buried at the Orchard Mesa Cemetery.
