Bull was born in Grand Junction, CO, June 28, 1890, eldest son of Dr. and Mrs. Heman R. Bull. He attended Grand Junction primary schools, the Allen Preparatory School in Massachusetts, the Boston Conservatory of Music, and Colorado Agricultural College in Fort Collins, CO. He married Carolyn Derryberry November 15, 1916, and lived in Grand Junction, CO, for many years. He worked as representative of the New York Life Insurance Co., and was a professional violinist who taught lessons to local children. In 1945, the Bulls moved to San Jose, CA, where he continued to work for New York Life Insurance. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and Masonic Lodge.
