Harvey A. Brown was born July 17, 1913, in Grand Junction, CO. Brown attended primary school in Grand Junction, then attended Western State College in Gunnison, CO, Colorado State college in Fort Collins, CO, and the Kansas City Conservatory of Music, lacking only a few credit hours for a degree. While living in Grand Junction, Brown played in the school band and orchestra, and was active in city music circles. He worked as an instrumental music instructor in Kansas City, Missouri, schools for 10 years. Brown's specialties were clarinet and violin. He married Ruth Turner in Collbran, CO, in 1935. Brown was an active member of the Kansas City Community Baptist Church. Due to his illness, the couple moved back to Grand Junction from Missouri in 1944 before his passing. He passed away February 28, 1944, in Grand Junction after an illness of 11 months.
