Description
Basket (oval In Shape) Coiled. Small coiled oval basket with small mouth. Woven in straw colored material with dark red motifs. The designs are geometric patterns with sharp angles. There are two rows of four motifs matching at the top and bottom of the basket and one which is slightly more elaborate in between, repeated four times like the top and bottom designs. The top and bottom motifs are trapezoids with two arms stretching out from each side at the bottom and folding off at the top, almost like hands. The center motif elaborates on this design by adding a triangle on top of the trapezoid and two more arms with 'hands' at the top of the trapezoid. The gift deed lists that this basket is a product of the Jicarilla Apache, however a sticker at the bottom of the basket writes "Pomo In."
