Description
Ute Coiled Wedding Basket. According to the gift deed, the basket was a wedding basket from the Ute tribe and was located from Western Colorado. The basket's design is severely faded, but shows two concentric suns with a small gap forming a tan line from the rim of the basket to the center, beginning where the rim is finished and tied. The rim is finished with a fishtail weave. The basket is tan with a design woven in a slightly darker color, though it is faded and not very legible.
