Description
Sioux Beaded Moccasins. The moccasins are made with a light tan color leather, and remnants of the animals hair are still on the bottom of the soles. The leather is stiff and brittle. The beading is a block design at the center with two smaller rectangular blocks on either side. The center block features a blue rectangle with 8 white rectangles, 4 on each side, spread evenly. Then, there are three stripes, blue, orange and red, followed by a white block with three black rectangles evenly grouped along a line down the center. The two smaller blocks on either side mimic the design of the center block without the white and black embellishments. Sinew sewing and ties at the ankle. The decoration around the shoe where the top meets the seam of the sole consists of rectangles placed at an angle, each 3 rows of beading tall. The pattern is three white rectangles, ten beads wide, followed by a green rectangle (approx. 9 beads long)} with a red center row, then a blue rectangle with a white center row, and another green rectangle with a red center row. The moccasins have a tongue.
