Description
Large polychrome Tlingit coiled basket from the Pacific North West. The basket is red, black, light blue, green, and light yellow/white. There are several designs fitting inside each of 5 concentric rings, bordered by three rows of green weave. The center is completely red. The first ring around the center has two polychrome diamonds, outlined in white, and two pairs of triangles outlined in red meeting tips at the center of the ring. The third ring from the center has a petal like design, with 6 triangles pointing towards the next outermost ring. In the fourth ring from the center, 10 sets of lines zig-zag. Next, The fourth ring has another triangular, petal like motif with 12 triangles.The outermost ring has diamonds and triangles repeating like the first ring from the center.
