Description
Metal trophy, inscribed on one side as follows:
"Presented to D.W. Aupperle in grateful appreciation of twenty years of service as president of Colorado Potato Growers Exchange".

The Daily Sentinel wrote about Aupprele winning this award on June 18, 1944. The article wrote, "D.W. Aupprele, pioneer Grand Valley agriculturist and dean of potato growers on the western slope, arrived home late in the week from Denver, where for the last time, he presided as president over the annual business session of the Colorado Potato Growers' Exchange. He had held that office since the organization was formed (1923), guiding it from its infancy to its present maturity with gross cash sales of nearly seven million dollars during the past year. The retirement of Mr. Aupperle was voluntary, due to advancing years. In recognition of his long service, he was unanimously elected to a new office that of president emeritus for life. He was also presented with a silver loving cup and other marks for appreciation by the association for his years of service..." The article continues to talk about the Colorado Potato Growers' Exchange and how it was the first state-wide cooperative association organized under the provisions of the State Cooperative Act enacted in 1923 and how Aupprele served for 21 years. According to the article, approximately 100,000 carloads of potatoes and onions had been put to the market.
