Description
a. Letter on loose-leaf paper, one page. Written in black ink. Dated February 11, 1924. Montrose, CO. Letter to Mary Maddux Greenley (Casper, WY) from Leona and Laurence Maddux (Montrose, CO).

"Dear Mary: Well I guess it is time I had better get busy and answer your welcome letter I received some time ago. It seems as tho I neglect letter writing to what I used to. I guess I spend all my spare time following my dear husband, because I am perfectly satisfied when I am with him. We are just coming fine and we are almost on our feet again. Laurence only gets $4.00 per day, then I have one steady boarder and when they were lodging I always had a fun each day for dinner. You asked one question that I had to ask before I could answer it for you, but he says he can save lumber, get help cheaper, save the waste and many other things. Yes, the trucks were hauling the logs into town, but they had to quit on account of bad roads. We have had regular spring weather and the snow nearly was gone, and oh my the mud, Sunday a little snow fell. I think spring is here. We are moving to town tomorrow, we are going to build at the mill so I won't really be in town but that suits me all the better. While you are visiting around you had better come and make your Bud and sis a visit. But I expect you are like us to much work for any pleasure. I would surely appreciate a picture of your babies also one of yourself and hubby. I send you one of the snap-shots they took the day we were married as soon as I get some developed. Well this is a poor excuse for a letter, but I try to do better next time. Good night, and lots of love from Leona and Laurence".
