Description
Panoramic shot of the chutes and loading freights at the base of the Book Cliff Mine.

"This panoramic view of the facilities at the Book Cliff Mine was made as part of a series by Frank Dean around 1915. The series was probably sent to Princeton University so they could have detailed views of operations, improvements, etc. The track descending into the ravine below Number Four went to the stone-cutting operation. The poles erected near the track were apparently used as a device for loading stones or conveying them across the ravine. Judging from the upside-down car in the foreground and other debris, they must have experienced a recent flashflood." **see publication notes*
