From Battlement Mesa, Colorado looking into the magnificent valley of Parachute, apartment houses built in anticipation of the Exxon "boom" stand vacant. Workers complete the shells only of what was to have been a boom town for the Colony Shale Oil Project planned for parachute. When "for sale" signs begin to line the streets and apartments like these could not be finished.This is a black and white photograph picturing a housing development on Battlement Mesa. The mesas stand in the background and several houses, electricity poles, and cars area scattered across the landscape. In the forefront homes with a few people standing outside are the most prominent in this photo.
