Camera Case

Historical artifact -- Camera Case

Identifier:
1998.42.12
Description
Camera case with an outside made from an orange leather.

Case features a shoulder strap made from an orange leather. The ends of the strap are secured via loops (closed by plastic rivets) attached to square, metal rings on the left and right sides of the case. The strap features a buckle on the left side which may be used to adjust the length. There is also a movable pad present on the strap.

The lid of the case is secured to the remainder via a horizontal zipper, with one end of said zipper featuring a latch to secure the pull into. The back of the lid features a leather strip which connects the lid to the rest of the case. On this connector is two (2) plastic rivets and the latch-point. The lid's bottom lip features white threading along its entire length. The outside zipper appears to be made of a silver metal. The inside of the lid features a zippered pocket. The outer edge of this pocket features a strip of white cloth around it. The inside zipper appears to be made from a golden metal. The inside also features an inscription (detailed later).

The bottom of the case features four (4) silver, metal studs. There is also a closed loop of orange leather in the center. Near the "front" end, there is an inscription (detailed later).

The frontside of the case features a satchel-style pocket with a silver buckle. The pocket's cover features white threading along its edge and along the fastener for the buckle. The bottom edge features two (2) orange leather loops with buckles.

Both sides of the case feature strips of orange leather securing silver, metal square rings. These rings attach the shoulder strap to the case. The leather strips are attached via white threading along their edges. There are closed loops of leather at the bottom of the strips, each with plastic rivets at either end. Near the bottom of each side is a connecting point for the leather reinforcement on the bottom of the case, secured via horizontal white threading.

The backside of the case features six (6) plastic rivets: two (2) are just below the lid's connector, two (2) are about a fifth of the way down from the top edge, and two (2) are a fifth of the way up from the bottom edge, with the bottom right one missing its plastic cover, exposing the metal underneath.

The inside of the case is made from a brown leather.

The inner frontside features a square of white threading, used to secure the outside pocket to the case. There are also two (2) metal studs about a third of the way from the right side of the case. The bottom edge also features four (4) metal rivet faces, with two on either end.

The inner sides feature two (2) metal rivet faces each, used to secure the inside's leather reinforcement.

The inner backside features two (2) metal studs about an eighth of the way from the left side of the case. There are also two (2) metal rivet faces about a third of the way from the right side of the case. These rivets secure one end of a divider. The opposing end of this divider can be attached to the two (2) metal studs on either the front or back of the inner case. The top of this divider has an orange leather reinforcement.

Inside the front pocket is an adapter ring, a coated filter in its box, and a page detailing the usage and purpose of the filter.

Inside the lid's inner pocket are two (2) wallet-sized exposure guidebooks.
