Description
"The Little Empire of the Western Slope" 14-pg pamphlet distributed by the Reed Investment Company of Colorado Springs, CO, in efforts to spread awareness of investment opportunities in Western Colorado. Content covers topics such as the history of the Grand Valley, mining and industry, geography, river confluence, irrigation, agriculture, Palisade orchards, industry, the North Fork Valley, the Plateau Valley, White River Valley, railroads, and stock-growing, and also includes pictures of Grand Junction High School, Grand Junction's first M. E. Church, the sugar factory, Western Slope orchards, two Victorian-style Grand Junction homes, and the plan of Moyer's Fair Store. Specifically, the pamphlet was created in support of the Grand Junction Town and Development Company, The Western Sugar and Land Company, the Grand Valley National Bank, the Reed Building Company, and the Reed Securities Company. The pamphlet was funded by the Grand Junction Town and Development Co, the Western Sugar and Land Co (Grand Junction, CO), the First National Bank (Fort Morgan, CO), The Exchange National Bank (Colorado Springs, CO), and the Colorado Savings Bank (Colorado Springs, CO). Printed on the back cover is the quote, "And the desert shall blossom as the rose".
