Description
Black and white studio portrait photograph of Bill McKay and his family, a wife and three children. As described on the back of the photo, Mrs. McKay was the daughter of N. J. Krusen, owner of the Krusen Mine (later known as the Midwest Mine). Krusen assisted in the development of Vineland. The Krusen home still stands in Vineland, made from logs cut in the Glenwood Springs area and floated down the Colorado River. 

Attached to the front of the photo is a typed caption that reads, "Bill McKay and Family / Mrs McKay was the Daughter of N J Krusen, owner of the Krusen Mine, later known as the Midwest Mine. Krusen assisted in the development of Vineland, made from logs cut in the Glenwood Springs area and floated down the Colorado River. / Home now owned by Mr and Mrs C A Peregrine, located on the north road." Written on the back of the photo in blue ink is a similar description: "Bill / McKay + Family / She was a Krusen / The daughter of N J Krusen / The father of the Krusen Mine / later kwon as the MidWest Mine / he helped to develop Vineland / In the Early days / The fathers home still stands / in Vineland the only log / Cabin along the Colorado river / (now Peregrines".
