Description
Snapshot photograph of the window display at J.W. Hugus & Co.'s storefront in Palisade, CO, identified as the first chain store in America. In the frame are three store windows with the store's sign, reading "W. Hugus & Co.", hanging above. Inside the window is a hunting-themed display, identified as their 1912 display, including several guns, bags, ammunition, animal skins, a stuffed raccoon and goose, and 14 mounted deer heads. Attached to one of the window frames is a flyer that reads, "Sole Agency Queen Quality Shoe".
