Palisade Public Library Collection ➔ Photo of Cars at Bower Garage

Photograph -- Black-and-White Photograph

Identifier:
1979.23.195
Description
Black and white snapshot photograph of two early day cars pulling away from a building. This building has been identified as Bower Hall, previously Bower Garage, located in Palisade, CO. The building is mostly out of the frame, only the right corner is visible. A sign advertising "Mobiloil" hangs from the side of the building. The car on the right, backing away from the building, is painted black and has no roof. 5 men ride in the car, all unidentified. The other vehicle is lighter in color, has a roof, and has no driver or passengers but has at least four visible rows of seats. An unidentified man is visible walking between the two vehicles. Another building identified as Palisade's old livery stable stands to the right of Bower Hall. The building is shaped like a monitor style barn and has an illegible painted sign on the front.

Written on the back of the photo in blue ink is the message, "I don't know any of these people but / the building is my Dad's old garage / (Bower Hall) and the other building is / the old livery stable (I think it was / run by a Mr. Wilson)".
