Description
Snapshot photograph of a funeral procession, possibly for the funeral of Mr. Potter, identified as a W.O.W. (Woodmen of the World) funeral taking place on the outskirts of Palisade, CO. Approximately 50 unidentified people walk in three rows, two near the front of the procession carry flags. The man in the center front of the procession has been identified as Mr. Bower. Behind the men and women on foot are several horse-drawn carriages, so many that they extend beyond the frame of the photo. The procession walks on a tree-lined street, a few buildings are visible in the distance. A mountain rises above the scene in the distant background.

A piece of paper attached to the bottom of a duplicate of this photo, 1979.23.69, has the following typed caption: "W.O.W. Funeral - C. Bower in center front. Believed to be Mr. Potter's Funeral".

Written on the back of 1979.23.69 in pencil is the message, "Wood Funeral Palisade / C Bower C C in Center front / I think it was / Neighbor Potter". The word "Wood" was later crossed out in blue ink and above it was written, "W.O.W.".
