Description
A teapot in the shape of a pentagonal prism; made of white porcelain decorated in a bamboo motif with gold accents. Aforementioned teapot has an accompanying lid in the same style. Both were made by Belleek Pottery Ltd.
The tea pot was created by the Belleek Pottery Factory in County Fermanach, Ireland in 1865. The teapot was a wedding gift to Benton and Evelyn Canon when they married in Carthage, IL in 1865. Evelyn carried the teapot in its respective box when the couple moved to Walsenburg, CO, then to Grand Junction, CO in 1886, then to Ithaca, NY in 1921. The teapot would be passed down to their daughter Helen Canon, who, upon retiring to Santa Barbara, CA, would give it to her close friend Carolyn Morton. Carolyn would later donate it to the Museum of the West, wherein David Sundial would carry the teapot and its box by jet from Santa Barbara, CA to its current place at the Museum of the West, Grand Junction, CO.
Both items were donated by Caroline Morton.
