.50 caliber Percussion Rifle"This large caliber weapon with a shortened barrel was typical of the mountain man firearm. Tacks decorated both the mountain man and Indian rifles and were often used as trade or barter items. The rifle on display was produced by J. P. Lower of Philadelphia and has an engraved German silver cap on the bottom of the stock being the trigger."
